Best AI-Native Helpdesk for Shopify Brands in 2026

Team REP
A shopper reading on an orange sofa beside a REP AI Rep Inbox panel where the AI has resolved order and size-swap tickets and handed a damaged-item ticket to an agent.

The best AI-native helpdesk for Shopify brands is one where the AI agent resolves the conversation before a ticket exists and hands the rest to people with full context. On that test, REP AI leads our shortlist for brands that want support and sales in one agent, followed by Gorgias, Siena, Fin by Intercom, Zendesk and Tidio.

Last updated November 2026

We make REP AI, so this order is our reading of each vendor's own pages, checked on 4 November 2026, not an independent test. A pilot on your own tickets should settle the final call.

Key takeaways

  • An AI-native helpdesk lets the AI agent resolve a conversation before a ticket exists, and keeps the inbox for what the AI cannot finish.
  • Pricing meters differ. Gorgias, Siena, Fin and Zendesk bill AI per automated interaction, ticket, outcome or resolution. REP AI prices its plans by monthly website sessions, with a per-resolution add-on for email and social.
  • Selling inside the support conversation is now common. REP AI, Gorgias, Siena, Fin and Tidio all describe product recommendations or cart help on their own pages. The Zendesk pages we read do not.
  • Vendors define "resolved" differently. Compare resolution figures only after you agree on one definition.
  • If you need voice or SMS, check channels first. Gorgias lists voice and SMS and Zendesk lists voice, while REP AI's pages list web chat, email, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
  • A two-week pilot with a holdout group tells you more than any vendor benchmark.

What makes a helpdesk AI-native?

AI as first responder, inbox as the exception queue

A traditional helpdesk starts with a ticket. A person or a macro picks it up, and an AI feature may help draft the reply. An AI-native helpdesk reverses the order. The AI agent answers first, takes actions such as order lookups and returns, and only creates a ticket when a human has to step in. That ticket should arrive with the full conversation, tags and a summary, so nobody asks the customer to start again.

Three tests separate the two designs:

  1. Does the AI resolve the conversation before a ticket is created?
  2. When it hands off, does the agent get history, tags and a summary?
  3. Does the pricing follow resolutions and volume rather than seats?

What changes for high-volume Shopify and Shopify Plus stores?

A high-volume store feels three pressures at once: sale-day spikes, order-value stakes on every escalation, and a stack of apps for subscriptions, returns, reviews and loyalty. A chatbot that only answers FAQs does little here. You need an agent that can read the order, apply your policy and act, plus a clean path to a human when the policy runs out.

How did we compare these AI helpdesks?

We scored each tool on four criteria, using only what the vendor publishes on its own site:

  1. Automation depth. Does the AI take actions (refunds, cancellations, address changes) or only answer questions?
  2. Ticket resolution. What does the vendor claim, and how does it define a resolution?
  3. Sales support. Does the AI recommend products, edit carts or apply discounts?
  4. Platform fit. How does the tool describe its Shopify support, and what does it integrate with?

Every figure below is a vendor claim from the vendor's own pages, checked on 4 November 2026. Prices change often, so confirm them on the vendor's site before you budget.

Which AI-native helpdesk is best for Shopify brands?

1. REP AI: best for support and sales in one agent

REP AI leads our shortlist on sales support and on how closely the AI is tied to ticket resolution. The agent answers before a ticket exists, hands off with the full history, tags and an AI summary, and can recommend products and edit carts in the same conversation. It trails on channel breadth: its pages list web chat, email, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, and do not list voice or SMS. More on this below.

2. Gorgias: best helpdesk-first option for Shopify

Gorgias is the strongest helpdesk-first option on our criteria. Its pricing page puts AI Agent on every plan, bills it per automated interaction, prices helpdesk tiers by ticket volume rather than per agent, and lists Shopify and Shopify Plus among its channels and integrations. Its homepage says agents can "pull up any order, customer, or product without leaving the ticket" and that brands can automate 60% of support. Its AI Agent page describes that figure as a 60% average automation rate across 5 brands.

3. Siena: best AI layer for consumer brands that keep their helpdesk

Siena calls itself an AI CX operating system for consumer brands, with agents for support, shopping, social, QA and voice of the customer. Its pricing page shows a $750 monthly platform fee and $0.90 per automated ticket, and its site says brands using Siena automate up to 80% of customer interactions. Its integrations page describes Siena working through Gorgias, Zendesk, Intercom, Kustomer, Gladly or Dixa, so budget for a helpdesk alongside it.

4. Fin by Intercom: best for adding AI to the helpdesk you already run

Fin is the easiest AI agent to add to an existing helpdesk, and it now sells as well as supports. Its pricing page says Fin works with any helpdesk at $0.99 per outcome. An outcome counts when a customer confirms the issue is resolved, does not ask for more help after Fin responds, or Fin completes a workflow. Its ecommerce page describes Fin for Ecommerce as purpose-built for Shopify, recommending products and adding them to the cart in the chat, and Intercom cites a 76% average resolution rate across all customers. It sits fourth on our criteria because a full Intercom setup adds per-seat helpdesk pricing, from $19 per seat a month, to the per-outcome AI fee.

5. Zendesk: best for teams already standardized on Zendesk

Zendesk is a broad service suite whose AI agents, per its AI agents page, work across web, mobile, social, email and voice. Suite Team and Suite Professional list at $55 and $115 per agent per month paid yearly, with automated resolutions at $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay as you go. The pages we read do not describe Shopify, so it ranks fifth on Shopify fit. It is a natural choice for teams already running Zendesk, and REP AI can hand conversations to a Zendesk team.

6. Tidio: best for smaller Shopify stores starting with chat

Tidio's Shopify page says its Lyro AI Agent reads the Shopify metafields and tags you choose, that customers average a 75% resolution rate with Lyro, and that teams can cancel orders, offer refunds or change shipping addresses from the support dashboard. Its Premium plan, which includes pay-per-resolution billing, is pitched at Shopify Plus stores. It ranks sixth because its pages put chat automation first and say less about high-volume ticket operations than the tools above.

Where does REP AI fit in a Shopify support stack?

What REP AI covers

On its helpdesk page, REP AI describes Rep Inbox as one inbox for website chat, email (Gmail, Microsoft 365 or Outlook), Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. It includes rule-based routing, SLAs with breach alerts, CSAT surveys, and a customer profile beside each ticket showing Shopify order history, lifetime spend and subscription status. The AI handles order status, returns, same-price size or color swaps on orders that have not shipped, and, through Recharge, subscription changes. Multi-layer instructions and sensitive-topic blocking for medical, political and regulatory questions are built in, and REP AI is SOC 2 Type II certified.

Sales on the same conversation

The sales agent page describes the same agent recommending complementary items from the live Shopify catalog, letting shoppers add, remove and change quantities in chat, and applying a shopper's coupon to their cart. That matters if support chats are also where your high-intent shoppers show up.

Where another tool may suit you better

  • You need voice or SMS support. REP AI's pages do not list them, while Gorgias lists both and Zendesk lists voice.
  • You are standardized on another helpdesk and want only an AI layer. Fin and Siena are built for that, and REP AI can also hand off to Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, Freshdesk, Richpanel or Salesforce Service Cloud.
  • You run a platform other than Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud or WooCommerce, the ecommerce platforms REP AI's integrations page lists.

How much does REP AI cost compared with other AI helpdesks?

There are three meters in this market: per resolution (Gorgias, Siena, Fin, Zendesk), per seat (Zendesk Suite, Intercom's helpdesk and the agent fee in Rep Inbox), and per session (REP AI). Per-resolution pricing is simple until a sale week doubles your volume. Per-session pricing is predictable until traffic jumps.

On its pricing page, REP AI lists Sales from $12 a month for up to 3,000 sessions, and Support from $49 and Concierge (sales and support together) from $130, both for up to 10,000 sessions. Stores above 500,000 sessions get custom pricing. Yearly billing is 20% less than monthly. AI on email, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp is an add-on at $0.75 per AI-resolved conversation. Rep Inbox runs from $8 a month for 50 tickets to $675 for 5,000 tickets, plus $20 per agent per month, on a paid REP AI plan. Every plan includes a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

How should you pilot an AI helpdesk before you commit?

  1. Pull 30 days of tickets and tag them by intent: order status, returns, product questions, subscriptions, edge cases.
  2. Write one definition of "resolved" and apply it to every vendor, including how you treat reopened conversations.
  3. Route a random share of traffic to the AI and keep a holdout group on your current setup.
  4. Test a handoff on purpose. Check that history, tags and a summary reach the human agent.
  5. Run the pilot across a promotion day, not only a quiet week.
  6. Price three scenarios at your own volume: a normal month, a peak month and a month with a growth push.

FAQ

What is an AI-native helpdesk?

It is a helpdesk where the AI agent handles conversations first and creates a ticket only when a person is needed. The ticket should carry the full history and a summary.

What is the best AI-native helpdesk for Shopify brands?

For brands that want one AI agent to support and sell, with its own inbox for escalations, we put REP AI first, then Gorgias, Siena, Fin by Intercom, Zendesk and Tidio. We make REP AI, so test your top two on your own tickets before you decide.

How is AI helpdesk pricing structured?

Most vendors charge per automated resolution, interaction, ticket or outcome, some add per-seat fees, and REP AI prices its main plans by monthly website sessions. Check each vendor's definition of a billable resolution.

Can I add an AI agent to the helpdesk I already use?

Yes. Fin says it works with any helpdesk, and Siena runs on tools such as Gorgias, Zendesk and Kustomer. REP AI hands conversations, with full history, to Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, Freshdesk or Richpanel, so you can start with the AI layer and decide on the inbox later.

Does REP AI work with Shopify Plus?

REP AI connects to Shopify, and its platform page lists Shopify Plus merchants with 180k+ monthly website sessions among its best-fit brands. Its pages do not describe a separate Shopify Plus product.

Can I migrate from my current helpdesk to Rep Inbox?

REP AI describes guided migration from Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer or Freshdesk, with your existing helpdesk staying connected unless the migration succeeds. Teams migrating from another helpdesk get their first 90 days of Rep Inbox free.
